About
You've heard the hype, Duluth has some pretty good bike trails. They are so good in fact that the International Mountain Bike Association has awarded Duluth gold level status, 1 of only 6 in the world! With nearly 100 miles of purpose built mountain bike trails that connect Duluth parks, there is plenty of trail to choose from. From the flowy Duluth Traverse to the rock rolls and drops of Piedmont. Each trail and park has a unique terrain and flow. Trails range from smooth, tree-covered paths that are perfect for the new rider to fast rocky descents and steep uphills that will make even the experienced rider sweat.
Each tour includes bike and helmet rental. Your guide will meet you at the specified trailhead and will tailor the tour to your riding skills and desires.
Our two hour mountain bike tour is a great option for those who are considering getting into the sport. Our guides will set you up on proper bikes and show you the basics of riding. If you have your own bike and are just looking to make your riding experience better, we can help! Use code “myown2wheels” during checkout for a discount.
DULUTH AREA Mountain bike TOURS
Lester Park - Beautiful views of the river valley and smooth, flowing singletrack trails are what you'll find when you ride Lester. There are a handful of rocky and rooty sections that will test your technique. This is a great option for riders of any skill level.
Mission Creek - Fast and flowing singletrack with many bridges, berms, and rollers. This trail network traverses through a dramatic, heavily forested, landscape with spectacular views of the St. Louis River Valley and Jay Cooke State Park. Great for intermediate and advanced riders.
Hartley Park - Hartley is a beautiful park with some great hardwood forests, an open grassland marsh and a large rock bluff. Some trails are fairly rocky and rooty, which lead to some technical challenges, but are not overly difficult. Many of the new reroutes are quite smooth and have nice flow to the design. There are several punchy climbs with enough rocks and roots to make choosing the right line important, but there aren’t any lung busters, just rolling hills.
Piedmont/Brewer Park - The trail is now 12 miles long, with numerous bridges and features. The terrain in this area lends perfectly to technical mountain bike riding. Significant elevation changes and large rocky bluffs provide endless options for the adventurous mountain biker. If you want to get sendy, there are many rock rolls and big drops to max out just about any suspension.

ABOUT
So you like bikes? You’ve got your own wheels, you’ve spent some time in the saddle, all you really want to do is go for a ride and see the best of what Duluth has to offer? Piedmont’s greatest hits is just for you. We will head out and your guide will take you to all the rolls, drops, and chunk that’s out there. Plan for about 3 hours of riding and around 2500 feet of elevation gain. This is an advanced level tour. There are trails with mandatory drops, and a few gap options. Although encouraged, we of course won’t make you ride everything! We can stop and session these, but then not all trails will be ridden. Check out this article for some of the options!
We will explore trails with neat names and even neater rocks such as Dr. Diablo, Kissing Booth, Admiral Rockbar, and many more!
Pads are not required, but they are good to have. Please make sure you can pedal uphill with them on. It’s your call as a rider if a full face helmet will be needed. We don’t use them, but fully support your use of it!
Mountain Bike Skill Levels
BEGINNER
Beginner are getting comfortable with biking body position, bike fit, pedaling, cornering, climbing and uphill starts, and small obstacle clearing. You probably feel comfortable riding beginner (green) trails with the occasional turn onto something bumpier. Once things get steep (up or down) it’s time to walk.
INTERMEDIATE
Intermediate riders are comfortable with fast cornering, bumpy downhills, can climbing moderate hills, can clear small obstacles , and can ride small rock rolls and jumps. You’ve probably ridden a bunch, but you’re looking to venture onto the advanced trails. Those rock rolls are just a bit more than you want to take on.
ADVANCED FLATLANDER
Super comfortable on most single track in the midwest, comfortable riding rough flatter trails or rolling terrain. However, when you find rock rolls, drops, and gaps it's time to turn around. It’s quite possible you’ve done many xc mountain bike races and you just want to learn to ride steep trails!
ADVANCED
You ride with confidence over rocky and steep trails, are a of master rock rolls, can ride drops and some jumps, and increase climbing ability to mountain goat status.
PRO
You get paid to ride a bike and need someone to chase you.
