ABOUT
Cross country skiing in Duluth is pretty spectacular. With 75 km+ just in city limits, there is a trail for everyone. Some xc ski trails in Duluth are groomed for classic, some for skate, and many for both.
As a skier you are well aware how much good technique matters. It can easily make or break a skier! Our guides/instructors have been skiing for many years and would love to help you figure things out so you can ski your first 5 km non stop or get to that next wave faster in for the Birkie! With private and personalized classic ski or skate ski lessons in Duluth, MN, we are excited to get outside with you!
Why just one hour? We’ve found that it’s much better to keep our lessons short and do specific skills in small increments. After about that one hour mark there is just too much to remember and skiers start to fatigue.
We offer a two hour lesson by request. Please contact us for availability and booking.
XC skiing in Duluth
BEGINNER
Beginner skill lesson focus on skiing basics such as body position, balance, technique (skate or classic) efficiency, cornering, climbing, and downhills. You may feel comfortable on beginner (green) trails with the occasional turn onto something steeper. Classic skills: striding, herringbone, double pole. Skate skills: V1, V2
INTERMEDIATE
Intermediate skill lessons will concentrate on faster cornering, climbing, increasing efficiency, and steeper downhills. You’ve probably been skiing for a few years, and likely have done a few races, but you’re looking to become more efficient and comfortable on those skinny skis. Classic skills: more efficient striding, double pole, kick double pole. Skate skills: V1, V2, V2 alternate
ADVANCED/RACE
You’ve been skiing for many years. You’ve likely done a bunch of races and feel quite comfortable on skis. Now you’re looking to refine your technique or even more likely, want to improve your weaker discipline. Our lessons will get very particular on the finer point of skiing. Classic skills: condition specific striding, double pole, kick double pole. Skate skills: V1, V2, V2 alternate

Some xc ski trails in Duluth are groomed for classic, some for skate, and many for both. The terrain offers variety for all ages and abilities, and each trail system has something unique to offer. Whether it's the beautiful views of Lake Superior from Lester Park or the challenging climbs of Magney-Snively, there's a perfect trail waiting for you.
Never skied? No worries, many of our guests are first time skiers. Our qualified guides will provide tips and tricks to get you gliding down the trail. If you're a skier and you're looking to try out some new trails or improve your technique, our qualified guides will get you headed in the right direction. Ski rental is included with the tour cost.
